Pre-Production Meeting

Summary of what your group talked about for each of the three areas above (roles/responsibilities, technical aspects, content/structure):


Roles and Responsibilities

  1. The host is going to Emmanuel but we decided he will start the beginning of each segment but the others in each segment will help keep the conversation flowing. We figured out who was going to speak in some of the segments but there was still some room for switching roles, but the basics were covered. We decided to transition through natural conversation because the topics we are covering connect nicely. We also said that the beginning and end would be music instead of just ending or talking right away. The podcast editor will be recording the meeting and revising the recording afterward which is why he doesn’t speak very much. The host will be the main contributor to the website but the podcast director will step in to help with the main load at any time.

Technical Aspects

  1. We decided to record as a group because that would allow us to have the most normal conversation. It would also save the editor a lot of work piecing each person's segments in the correct order. We are going to have like a mini meeting before recording to work out any problems that might happen on recording day as well as have a practice run.

Content/structure

  1. We have not come up with a podcast name yet but we are going to have it figured out by recording day. We have mostly decided who is going to speak during which part of each segment; we know the general idea of thinking and conversation everyone is going to take during their responses. There will be a total of three segments with a short introduction and brief conclusion. The introduction will be only a couple minutes long, segment 1 will be around 7 minutes, and the same goes for segment 2; segment 3 will be 5 minutes leaving the last couple minutes to be the conclusion. The host will initiate the conversation at first but the first segment will be led by me, segment 2 will be led by Emmanuel, and segment 3 will be a mix of everyone but if anything goes wrong the lead will be me. The host will continue to ask questions and switch segments through one of those questions because the last topic and first topic are somewhat related. The music at the beginning and end of the podcast will be generic music off the platform the editor is using. The ending discussion will be thanks and the host will wrap up with a mention of upcoming podcast episodes.


A to-do list of things you need to do to get ready for recording

  1. Host another meeting to make finalizing details before recording day, on Sunday (14th)

    1. Fully decide on speaking parts

      1. Finish outline/scripts

  2. Detail assignments for the microsite

  3. Keep up to date with each other on progress and assignments before next meeting

  4. Have detailed plan of speaking points and connections to others
